Dish detergent

New growth means Aphids.... and plenty of them! An old trick I learnt from when I was a wee gardener, and still effectively use today is dish detergent. All you need is a spray bottle, water, and a squeeze of dish soap. Spray the aphids on whatever they are feasting on, and within a day or so they will be toast. It is completely safe for the plants, and best of all chemical free.
I also use dish soap in any standing water like outdoor drains to keep Mosquitos at bay. This is a perfect place for them to breed, amongst other spots in the garden. Check out my post on Mosquitos for more info.
When ever using pest control of any kind, don't forget to re-apply after any rain showers.
Lather Up!
